Piggie's Penny Candy: Packaging Assignment

This is work from my class in InDesign. The assignment was to create packaging for a food product. I wanted to try and market penny candy to older children ages eight to twelve. Penny candy is usually found at the bottom of older ladies purses and I wanted to try to encourage interest from younger age group.
The piggie bank, lemons, and barrels are all vector art that was done in Illustrator, the piece was composed in InDesign. I might add more flavor variant boxes on to this post in the future including a red one for cherry bombs and a gold one for butterscotch candies.

Below is concept art and what I used to trace my vector graphics from. I wanted the piggie bank to look like he is filling an almost 3D space inside the box.  I added this character because many candy brands that are marketed to kids have some kind of character. I also added a cut out coin slot to turn the box into a piggy bank after all the candy was gone.
